Goa Reviews
Water Sports in Goa, One Heck of a Ride:
Goa is ever so popular for its beaches and the bonhomie of the people inhabiting the land of fun and merry making. My record of Goa travel is full of water splashes, thrilling experiences, breathtaking moments and ceaseless desires for attempting water sports again. We approached Dona Paula beach along with our tour representative.
For a package of water sports we were charged 2500 Rs. by a local vendor guy who thought he can make some extra money from the “dumb tourists”. Our tour representative, Salman came to our rescue and we got the package for 1000 Rs. and experienced Water Riding, Para Sailing, Bumpy Ride and Banana Ride for the first time. I was a bit concerned about our safety thankfully they had great safety equipments.
Basilica of Bom Jesus
We visited Basilica of Bom Jesus as part of our seven day Goa tour. It was a fascinating sight when I first saw the old church of Goa. I normally don’t go on religious tours, but my Goa trip surprisingly instead of being a fun experience was more of a spiritual journey. Basilica of Bom Jesus was built in 1605 and is now declared a world heritage site. As I started exploring the monument I got more and more keen on the details and was thus informed that it houses the sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier who was the patron saint of Goa. Hedied during sea faring to China, the story hence unfolds that the saint’s body remained as fresh as it was buried; this miraculous aspect about the church also attracts numerous devotees.
On Honeymoon to Goa
After a full six days of sea faring, dozing, swimming, walking on the beach and relishing sea food, me and my spouse decided to go sightseeing. It was a bright day and we with our camera and a taxi driver stepped outside to visit the Goa must visit, Fort Aguada. The fort was constructed in 1612 to protect Goan boundaries from any attack from the sea.
The fortification has a history of never being conquered; its wide walls and green surroundings are further enhanced with the presence of a fresh water spring under its premises giving it its name Aguada meaning Water. Much part of the fort is now converted into a prison thus we couldn’t see much here still with my beloved by my side my trip became one of the best memories of Goa travel. The romantic settings, sound of waves splashing against the coast, old fort as a backdrop and ceaseless skyline above it really gave us the most enchanting view of Goa.
