Miramar beach in Goa is popular tourist spot among domestic as well as international travelers. Lying on the way to Dona Paula, the beach is located at just 1 km ahead from the confluence of Mandovi River and the Arabian Sea. This famous beach can be easily reached from capital city Panjim as it is just three kilometers in the north of the city. This beach is popularly called as “Gasper Dias”.
Miramar is a Portuguese word which means viewing the sea. Tourists can have enchanting views of Majestic Arabian Sea from this beach. Having a fine silvery sand bed, the beach covers an expanse of 2 km on the coast. This beach begins at the gulf and ends in the Emerald Coast Parkway. The beach is popular for long evening walk due to its good location and soft sand. This is one of the charming beaches of Goa.
One can have beautiful panoramic views of Fort Aguada which stands just across the Mandovi River. The beach is also crowded like other Goan beaches and is good place to watch the sea. This beach is fringed by shady palm trees. Its silver sand can be seen sparkling at a moonlit night. If you are a bird lover, you can plan your Goa tour in the months of November to March. This is the time when plenty of migratory birds flock at this beach. You can happen to see birds like gulls and plovers.
The Cabo Raj Bhawan is situated at the hillock on whose base the beach ends. This is the official residence of Goa Governor. At night, illuminated Raj Bhawan looks very beautiful when seen from the beach. Due to its proximity to the city, this beach has become commercialized and has all the touristy facilities. There are quite good number of hotels and home stays located on the beach. You can involve yourself in the beach activities like sunbathing, fishing, parasailing, shopping and eating. But this is not safe for swimming due to the undercurrent.
