Started under the global project of ISKCON, this grand shrine was built to commemorate the birthday of its founder Sri Prabhupada. Former president of India Sh. Shankar Dayal Sharma inaugurated the ISKCON Shri Radha Krishna Temple in Bangalore in May 1997.

Main Shrine at Isckon Temple in Bangalore is known as the Rajagopuram and is adorned with beautifully ornamented arches and illuminated water jets. Mesmerizingly beautiful idols of Radha-Krishna occupy the main shrine. Besides this main shrine, there are other smaller shrines also which include shrines dedicated to Sri Sri Krishna Balrama, Sri Prahlada Narasimha, Sri Nitai Gauranga and Sri Srinivasa Govinda. There is a huge hall of about 10,000 sq. feet which houses the main shrine and two other shrines. Russian painters were engaged to embellish the ceiling of the hall with paintings.

Architecture of the Shri Radha Krishna Temple in Bangalore

The design of the temple is fascinating. Its architectural style incorporates the blend of traditional architecture and ultra-modern concepts. This remarkable structure was deigned by Madhu Pandit Dasa (President and Project director) and Jagat Chandra Dasa, who are ardent devotees of Radha-Krishna. The entire temple complex is divided into many sections. To admire completely, the structure and the aura of the temple, you have to see it with your eyes. Its beauty can not be bound into words.

The most jovial celebration is the festival of Janamashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna.
All the visitors to the temple are given a bowl of Khichadi (boiled rice and pulse together) as the Prasdam, the God’s Food. This temple is one of the most famous temples in Bangalore.
