  • Torsa Strict Nature Reserve is abundant in biodiversity that includes the Ha and Samtse districts for which the region is recognised. With a wide variation in heights, the Torsa Nature Reserve is rich in broadleaf evergreen forests, broadleaf deciduous forests, coniferous forest and tropical grasslands. It also has alpine and sub alpine grasslands with scrubs and shrub land. Common flora is the weeping cypress, Himalayan larch, magnolia, Irish, gentiana, daphne, pine, maple, silver fir, delphinium and orchids with the rhododendron blooming in various colours during springtime. Plants of medicinal value like the euphorbia and Bhutan’s national flower, the blue poppy can also be found at the Torsa Strict Nature Reserve in Bhutan.

  • Wildlife prevalent in the Torsa Strict Nature Reserve is the snow leopard, blue sheep, and yak and has the third largest population of the Bengal tiger in the whole of Asia. Others include the musk deer, yellow throated marten, fox, marmots, lynx, takin and the endangered red panda and blue sheep.
