
Founded on 17th Nobvember, 1875 in New York, Theosophical Society is worldwide organization which spreads the message of universal brotherhood among the people. It was founded by Madame H.P.Blavatsky and Colonel H.S.Olcott. The aim behind the foundation of this society was to find the truth and finding the purpose and meaning of existence. Anyone can become its member who follows the objectives of the society. There is no distinction of race, creed, sex, religion, caste and color.
International headquarters of the society first shifted to Bombay in 1879 and then to Chennai in 1882. Located on the south banks of Adyar River, Theosophical Society in Chennai has 28 acre wooded campus. This land was known as the Huddleston Gardens and now it is the permanent headquarters of the society.
