Location of Red Fort

History OF Red Fort:
Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan had a fetish for building grand structures. He laid foundation of this majestic citadel, Red Fort or Lal Qila, on 16th April, 1639 when he shifted his base from Agra to Shahjahanabad. It took nine long years to get completed and its construction completed on 16th April, 1648. An astronomical amount of money, about one crore was spent on its making. Hamid and Ahmad were its master builders.
Description of Red Fort
Octagonal in its shape, Red fort is built of red sand stone. It has two longer sides on east and west. Ramparts of red Fort encompass about 2.41 km. On the town side, it rises to 33.5 m and on the river Side (Yamuna River), it is 18 m high. Three storeys high Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate are main gateway of the Red Fort. Visitors are allowed only in a 
part of Red Fort, rest is occupied by the Army.

Diwan-i-Am
Hall of Public Audience, originally, was a richly ornamented hall with gilded stuccowork. It was the place where, emperors used to hold his court.
Diwan-i-Khas
Hall of Private Audience was the place where empower used to receive his private guests and this hall has the priceless Peacock Throne.
Hamam
This richly decorated bathroom set accompanies the Diwan-i-Khas.
Moti Masjid
It was the personal mosque of Aurungzeb and it is situated on the west of Hamam.
