  • About 52 km from Palakkad, a well-known town in Kerala state, Nelliampathy is one of the quaintly beautiful hill stations of South India. Chains of hills rise into lofty peaks, their slopes covered with trees and meadows, or an occasional mountain spring.

  • The vast plains of Palakkad are visible in the distance. Getting there is half the fun as the road twists and turns past verdant slopes and several hairpin bends. Recognized as one of the world’s 17 biodiversity hotspot zones, it is now a popular bio-farming zone. The surrounding countryside offers trekking and bird watching opportunities.

  • Major Attractions of Nelliyampathy

  • Pothundi Reservoir : Located off the Palakkad-Nelliyampathy Road, this is a favorite pit stop. The tranquil lake and the rising hills encircling it make a picture postcard setting.

  • Seethakundu :     A gushing waterfall, it drops 100 meters down the green hill slope. Best view after the monsoon. The place also serves as a look out for the sprawling valleys below and Palakkad plains in the distance.

  • Adventure Sports : Go hiking along the forested paths – you can choose from simple walks to tortuous climbs. But it is always advisable to be accompanied by a local guide.

  • Rail : Palakkad, 52 km away, is the nearest rail station.
    Road : Palakkad is the main gateway town and is easily accessible from various places in Kerala and the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore (TN) is 55 km and an important transport hub. The climb to the hill starts from the hamlet of Nenmara.
