Idukki

IdukkiIndia Tour Enquire

  • Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary :
  • When in Idukki I had explored a lot from its wildlife to social life. I visited the Idukki wildlife sanctuary and the picturesque lake located near the park. The guards of the Park guided us to spot the wild animals in the park. I got to see the wild boars, jungle cat, bison and elephants. I didn’t want to miss a visit to Idukki arch Dam as I had heard a lot about it earlier (the second largest arch dam in the world).

I have viewed the Idukki Reservoir from a close distance and wondered when I saw the three dams-Idukki, Kulamavu and Cheruthony dams that formed the Reservoir. The area of the dam and the sanctuary was scenic with hills, streams and waterfalls. The picturesque surroundings rose up my spirit as I am a nature enthusiast by heart.

  • Idukki town :
  • I roamed around the Idukki town to taste some delicious Kerala lunch at a roadside restaurant. Luckily I got several vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants but chose one. I savored some vegetarian Kerala cuisine in a typical vegetarian restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the interiors have a traditional Kerala style. Then I visited the shopping centers and have seen lots of shops selling spices. I bought some vanilla fragrance soap, good quality leaf tea and coir baskets. Some middle aged women were selling coir baskets and forced me to buy something with beautiful smiles. Imagine I smelt some spices of Kerala while roaming on the roads. It made me accept that really Kerala is the land of spices.
