We, the four of us drove to Phookot Lake located 13 kilometers away from Kalpetta bus stand. The scenic surroundings enriched by mountains and thick forest made us more jovial. To kill our adventure spirit, we enjoyed a pedal boat ride on the blue waters of the Lake. It was raining a lot as Kerala witnesses rain suddenly.
The Lake Restaurant was a solace for us as we had hot coffee here. Then we drove to the viewpoint, the sight was breathtaking, but mist and fog covered it, we couldn’t see anything. We returned back with our drenched clothes, but enjoyed it. Really it was a dream drive to Kalpetta.
Visit to Suchipara Waterfalls and Edakkal Caves :
Kalpetta, the main hub of Wayanad district of Kerala itself has so many ancient temples and mosques and so I got the chance to visit the temples to explore its architecture and rituals. But journey to Suchipara waterfalls and Edakkal caves only made me more nostalgic sometimes. I drove to the Suchipara waterfalls and the scenic surroundings of nature passed by my side. I felt in true sense that Kerala is still in the lapse of nature. When I saw the clean waters of the waterfalls, I couldn’t resist myself to have a bath here. Then I visited the Edakkal caves to explore its hidden treasures. I climbed the steep rocks uphill to reach the main destination of the caves. The pictorial writings believed to be from neolithic man reminded me the pre-historic age.
