When I was in Kochi for several days the rich culture of the city did fascinated me a lot. I had been in the Kathakali center of Kochi to enjoy a Kathakali dance programme. I reached the centre before half an hour of the scheduled time and I thank myself for this now. I got a chance to see the make-up of the artists before performance of the show. I did chat with an artist. First the artists gave a brief description of the history of the Kathakali and then performed the dance using various facial expressions, gestures, music and song.
My Christmas Trip in Kochi, A Land Of Secularism :
I roamed around the city Kochi and wondered when I saw Gandhi’s secularism in true sense here. I had heard a lot earlier that Kochi is a city of secularism and my Christmas visit to Kochi proved this. I spent the days in a backwater retreat enjoying various memorable moments here. I didn’t miss anything in Kochi from a boat ride to Kathakali dance show. Among my most memorable experiences of Kochi travel was that the people of all religions celebrated Christmaswith great enthusiasm. Even we tourist were alsowelcomed in a jovial way to the church. The churches were decorated colorfully and people belonging to various religions thronged the ground of the Church. Really a secular city Kochi!
Mixed Experience in Kochi :
When I planned a trip to Kochi, I didn’t want to miss anything that Kochi has to offer. I chose an ayurveda resort and each day experienced marvelous massage therapies of ayurveda. I felt heavenly pleasure when a beautiful masseur pressed her hands on my back conversing with me in a pretty tone in English. What I explored here were the astonishing murals of Dutch Palace, the old buildings of the Jewish town and various others. But I would like to cherish for ever the sunset boat ride. I hired a boat in the boat jetty of Fort Kochi and cruised down towards to Ernakulam. I wondered when the sun faded in the pale sky. Really a memorable experience of sunset boat ride!
