After enjoying a half day backwater cruise I explored the Kollam town. I visited the Thangassery, the sea side village and had a look of the ruined fort built by the Portuguese and the Dutch. Thangasseri Lighthouse did stun to my eyes! Temple culture fascinated my mind; I went to a Hindu temple and explored also other mosques of the port town. I did visit the Chinnakada market and wondered when I saw the square-shaped clock tower from here. I also did not miss the cashew trading and marine industry centres. Kollam did buzz into my ears after visiting it.
Water Sports in Kollam :
I had been to Kollam for seven days. The scenic surroundings of the Ashtamudi Lake made me feel the utter brilliance of Mother Nature in creating a place as serene as this. I went to the boat jetty and enjoyed traditional boat riding on the waters of Ashtamudi Lake. Like a local boat rider I paddled the boat and felt a lot tired, but it was a wonderful ride. I spent half a day enjoying various water sports in the water sports centre of Kochupilamood. For one day I was oblivious of my harsh duties and mingled in the nature of Kollam. Kollam is indeed a wonderful place to enjoy water sports.
Marvelous Backwater Cruise :
What can be more enjoyable than a backwater cruise in serene Kollam backwaters? My dreams of a backwater cruise came true in Kollam. As a nature enthusiast I had a mind to enjoy backwater ride in a houseboat of Kerala. I went to the boat jetty of Kollam and hired a well-decorated Kettuvallam. Our boat passed on and I said to my boat owner to stop in some place which I found beautiful. I disembarked and visited a local village. The humble behaviors and simplicity of the villagers made me passionate.I dined in the houseboat and slept on the comfortable bed. In the morning the bird’s call woke me up from my lull sleep.
