Kozhikode, the charm of ancient port city thrilled my mind and heart. As I carry in my mind the rich history of Calicut I saw everywhere the colonial influence. While I visited the Kozhikode beach, I saw for first time in life the superb sunset view in the Arabian Sea. I tasted some light food in the beach restaurants here. Really amazing was the panoramic dazzling view of the lighthouse from the beach.
I wandered in and around the Kappad Beach and thought for a while how Vas Co Da Gama discovering the sea routes landed here. I did explore the stone carve which was near the Kappad Beach to mark the historical visit of the Da Ga Ma.
Unforgettable Backwater Cruise :
When in Kozhikode port city, I didn’t miss a backwater cruise. Though it isn’t a famous backwater destination like Alleppey and Kumarakom, yet the Kalli River attracted my mind as I know the mysterious ups and downs of Kali River. I hired a motor boat and it cruised down on the waters of the Kalli River. The scenic surroundings added more zest to my boat cruise.
Amazing Kozhikode Sea Foods :
I am a big fan of Kerala cuisine and also have a penchant for Indian sea foods. As I am not a die-hard foodie, I tasted some delicious dishes in Kozhikode restaurants. Though I was disappointed in sometimes as coconut was mixed in every food, yet I could not forget taste of the fish curry and sea food dishes. I ordered sometimes wrong dishes as the name of the menus struck my mind to savor it. The staff wasn’t disappointed at my mistake and asked me again in a nice tone in English. Once I checked out Paragon restaurant in downtown Calicut and really wondered savoring some sea food dishes. I couldn’t remember the name of the dish due to their local name.
