While in Thekkady I enjoyed a boat ride on the waters of Periyar Lake. It was a Sunday afternoon and so rush was there. Various tourists thronged the place and waited for a boat ride. I took a motor boat with other tourists and enjoyed the ride for an hour. I expected the wild animals on the edge of the lake but did not see the elephants as told by my friends. I spotted only a group of bison, sambhar, Etc.
May be due to monsoon season as there was enough water inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve and the animals had a goodtime to drink water inside the jungle. The scenic surroundings of the lake were amazing to take pictures.
Shopping at Kumily :
While I went off to Kumily, I happened to visit a little town located on the cardamom hills just 4 kilometers away from Thekkady. I explored the village life and at last reached a shopping center unexpectedly. I bought some handicrafts items from the shop to kill my shopaholic spirit. But I was not expert at shopping trips I paid more. I could not stopmyself when I saw lots of dry food items here. Here I saw, a colorful procession led by the beautiful village girls in traditional dresses. They carried platters and were accompanied by Kathakali artistes and musicians. It was a festival procession I confirmed from the shop keepers. When I came out from Kumily I saw some spice plantation garden on the outskirts of it.
