  • A Memorable Temple Visit :
  • The Hindu Gods and goddesses always fascinate me, so every time when I visit India I do like to visit the temples where the gods and goddesses are worshipped since antiquity. While I visited Trivananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, Padmanabha Swamy Temple visit really thrilled me. I went to the fort era in the early morning and explored the seat of Lord Vishnu.

    The architecture shows Vishnu sits on a coiled serpent and I was astonished how the sleeping posture of Lord Vishnu is depicted in the architecture. The idol of Vishnu is towering 18 feet and I tried from each door to peep into the idol. As trousers and shirts aren’t allowed I wore an Indian traditional dress to enter the temple. Imagine how I felt when wearing an Indian dress!

  • Onam Festival :
  • I enjoyed the festivity of the Onam festival in my last visit to Trivananthapuram, Kerala. To welcome the Devil king Mahabali the people decorated their houses and fairs and melas were organized to mark the festival. The traffic at first disappointed me but I could not stop my spirit to join the carnival as a local person. I really wondered when I saw the grand arrangements of this harvest festival. It was held on the second week of September and lasted for a week. Trivananthapuram was illuminated, I had the opportunity to savor a traditional festival dish on a banana leaves. A local friend said that this dish was called sadya. I bought some traditional handicrafts as a memorabilia of the Onam festival.

  • Kill Wander Lusting Spirit at Veli Beach :
  • On a Sunday afternoon I went to the Veli Beach located at a close distance from Trivananthapuram. I enjoyed the breathtaking view of the sunset over the Arabian Sea. I saw the place where the Veli Lake meets the Arabian Sea, indeed a nice place for frolicking. The Park of the Veli Lagoon attracted my mind; I explored its ornamental sculptures and just roamed around the park. Then the other tourists were enjoying boat ride on the Veli Lake. It impressed my mind and heart and I also took a paddal boat and enjoyed it for half an hour. Believe me, it was a dream ride. To shed off my fatigue I entered the floating restaurant and ate some light snacks.
