As a nature and wildlife lover I planned a trip to Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary last October. The weather was so pleasant at that time though Wayanad got some afternoon rains. It was after all fascinating to me. I enjoyed a morning jeep safari to the sanctuary and spotted several birds, foxes, peacocks, languors, deer and two groups of elephants.
The guide accompanying me disclosed numerous details about Wayanad. The forests I have seen were deciduous. The entire area of the sanctuary is large and bordering to the Tamilnadu state and so we had driven various kilometers to spot the wildlife. An ideal destination for the adventure as well as nature enthusiasts!
Mixed Exploration of Wayanad Sanctuary Tour :
Last year I visited Wayanad, one of the most scenic spots in Kerala which is rich in bio-diversity. There was enough to see in Wayanad, though my trip was to the Wayanad Sanctuary yet I wanted to see some wonders of the place. I stayed at a hotel at Sulthan Bathery and explored the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary which is also known as Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. I spotted birds here but the scenic surroundings encircled by hills, valleys, streams and waterfalls fascinated me more. I have heard earlier about the primordial caves of Edakkal and when in Wayanad I started my journey to this primitive place. The caves are located at the top of Ambukuthi hills near Ambalavayal and I had to climb to the hill to reach the spot.I have seen the stone carvings and people believe that these were the proof of the presence of Stone Agecivilization in Wayanad. Believe me I felt that I penetrated into deeper to the past of human civilization.
