Day 01 : Arrive in Kochi
On the first day of the Backwater Tour to Kerala, you will land at Kochi International Airport. Our tour representative will guide you to the hotel and on the way to your hotel you will feel the warmth of the Kochi which is known as the Queen of Arabian Sea. Take your room at the hotel and relax to shed off the fatigue of the flight journey. In the evening just come out and enjoy a magical evening in Kochi. Have a delicious Kerala dinner and spend the first night of South India backwater travel at the hotel.

Day 02 : In Kochi
Kochi, the city of ancient and modern charm has so much to offer you at first sight. Kochi is itself fascinating to the tourist. Visit today the Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church, and the oldest European church in India, Santa Cruz Basilica, the fishing market and the famous Chinese fishing nets. The localities have a belief that the traders from the court of Kublai Khan introduced the Chinese fishing nets to the Malabar region. After visiting the monuments of the past, go to the market complex and buy some souvenirs. In the evening, our tour representative will guide you to a Kathakali concert. Without enjoying Kathakali you will miss something very crucial in Kochi.

Day 03 : Kochi-Periyar (165km)
On the third day of the Kerala Backwater Tour, drive to Periyar which is also known as Thekkady. For wildlife enthusiasts Periyar is an amazing place to view the wild habitats such as Elephants, Bison, Deer and numerous other varieties of birds. On reaching take a jungle resort. In the afternoon just go to explore the plantation gardens of the area. You will avail enough recreational facilities at the jungle resort.

Day 04 : At Periyar
Savor a new Keralite breakfast at the jungle resort. Then start to explore the Periyar Tiger National Park. Periyar Park is covered with tropical rainforests where you will see the various wild animals like elephants, sambar, gaur, macaques and Nilgiri langur. Leopards and tigers are the main attractions of the park. Come to the jungle resort to take your lunch. In the afternoon go to the location of Periyar Lake. What can be more mesmerizing than a boat cruise at Periyar Lake? You will see the wild elephants and animals frolicking on the water of the Lake. Don’t forget to take photograph of the picturesque setting of the Periyar Lake and its adjoining surroundings.

Day 05 : Periyar to Kumarakom (125km / 3hours)
You have to leave Periyar in the early morning. Have your succulent breakfast and start drive to Kumarakom, a spectacular place situated on the banks of Vembanad Lake. Kumarakom is known as the gate way to backwaters of Kerala. On reaching take an ayurvedic backwater resort in Kumarakom and you can have ayurvedic treatment and therapies at the resort. If you are a bird lover, go for bird watching in the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary which is a home to both migratory and resident birds. Your tour to Kerala backwater will end with various novel experiences.

Day 06 : In Kumarakoram
Today devote the whole day exploring the beautiful spots of Kumarakoram which is unveiling its beauty with tremendous treasures. Spend the day enjoying boat riding in Kumarakoram Lake, angling at Kumarakom and don’t miss a view of the Vembanad Lake, the largest backwater in South East Asia. In the afternoon relax at the ayurvedic backwater resort and experience some ayurvedic treatment or therapy at the resort. Ayurvedic therapy is available here for the rejuvenation of your mind, body and soul.

Day 07 : Kumarakoram to Alleppy (By Houseboat)
Today will be the most memorable day of your backwater tour to Kerala as you will experience the backwater cruise. Hire a traditional houseboat or Kettuvallam and start cruising in the backwaters of Kumarakom. Cruising down the backwaters you will reach your next destination Alleppy. You will avail all the amenities like bathrooms, bedrooms, dining table, etc. While cruising on the houseboats you will be enchanted by the palm tress, vegetation fields, the greeneries of the landscape, etc. Feel the heavenly treasures of the God’s Own Country penetrating deeper into it. You will feel amazing while you spend the night on the houseboat.

Day 08 : Alleppy to Kovalam (160kms)
Get down from houseboat when you reach Alleppy (new name Alappuzha) and visit its sightseeing attractions like Mullackal Bhagavathi Temple, Alleppey Beach, coir making factories, etc. Again you have to drive to Kovalam today which is endowed with various stunning beaches. In the afternoon you will reach Kovalam and take a beach resort.

Day 09 : In Kovalam
The beach town of Kerala, Kovalam is a fascinating location in Kerala where one can enjoy various beach funs. Enjoy the beach activities, sunbath and various other sports. Take your own choice at Kovalam.

Day 10 : Kovalam - Trivandrum
On the concluding day of your Kerala backwater travel itinerary, you have to drive to Trivandrum airport to catch your flight on onward destination. Backwater cruise and other memories of Kerala backwater tour will sure rob your few nights sleep.
