A Good and Affordable Hotel, Hotel Highway Residency:
I picked Hotel Highway Residency based on recommendations from by my tour operator in India and I ended up staying there for 10 days. The hotel was tidy and clean, the staff was also helpful and above all the hotel is reasonably priced thus made it most convenient for me to stay in the city. I was on a tight schedule as I had visited Mumbai purely for business purposes; I thus required very efficient services which by luck I got all in this budget hotel. I was duly given wake up call every morning on time and was then offered my meal right on time. The Internet access in hotel also helped great deal along with other business amenities that I got here which included fax machine and even a meeting place where I had met my business associates. I did have to pay a little extra for customized pick- up and drop facility, but all was worth it as I saved my time for money and in return gained some too.

Gateway of India was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary and ironically this was the very place from where the British troops last left when India attained freedom. My visit to Gateway of India was planned under my Mumbai travel package by my tour operator in the month of January. The gateway is beautifully set on the sea shore and thus is a perfect place to view the ceaseless Arabian Sea. From there we had taken a boat ride for a short but speedy cruise through magnificent natural harbour of Mumbai. Another fascinating site was the toy sellers at the monument, some local people out on a picnic with families, kids at their best playful mood and photographers convincing people to pose in front of the spectacular monument.

Dhobhi Ghat literally means a place for washing clothes in Hindi language and the place on the very first look defines itself. Its truly is a unique place which houses rows and rows of small areas where clothes are washed. These areas are rented by individuals from the city authority where they wash the clothes manually by beating them against the stones and dry them. For ironing you will be charged a little extra of course. Thus, these Dhobhiwalas (the person who washes the laundry) first picks the laundry from you and after washing, drying and ironing leaves it back at your door steps and all this at minimal charges.
A Celestial Experience at Chowpatty Beach :
On the recommendation of my friends and local guide I decided to visit on the very last day of Ganesh Chaturthi. It was the day of ‘Visarjan’ when I happened to be in the city and in the words of my travel representative I couldn’t have been luckier. The city was crowded as usual, but this time the city was colourful and full of enthusiasm with their
