Counted among the famous sightseeing places in Mumbai, Marine Drive is the beautiful promenade along the sea shore and it is shaped like “C”. This 3 km long natural bay on the Arabian Sea has six lanes which run along the cast. Recently renamed as the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road, Marine Drive has Nariman Point on its Southern end and Babulnath, Malabar Hills and Walkeshwar at the other end. Marine Drive is popularly known as the Queen’s Necklace because of the attractive setting of streetlights. When these lights are lit at the evening, they reflect diamond like white lights to golden shine from yellow lights. This huge curve resembles a shining pearl necklace.

At the northern end of the Marine drive is located Chowpatty Beach which is famous for its snacks and fast food shops.
There are many stalls selling Bhel Puri, Pani Puri, kulfi and other snacks. Besides this, there are other attractions like, snake charmers, shooting galleries, balloon-sellers, monkey trainers and even masseurs. There are statues of Lokmanya Tilak and VallabhBhai Patel at Marine Drive. Both of these were the famous freedom fighters of India.
Marine Drive is part of the posh area of Mumbai. It has many famous restaurants and hotel groups. Also Marine Drive boasts of having art deco buildings of 1920 and 30s era. These sea front buildings belong to rich Parsi community of Mumbai.
