  • Chitwan is the famous city in Nepal. It is known for its Chitwan National Park. One of the seventy five districts of Nepal, Chitwan is located in the western part of the Narayani zone.   • There are few theories behind the origin of name Chitwan. It is believed that, before the settlement of humans, this place was filled with Cheetahs. In Nepali, "van", means Jungle. So people started calling it Cheetah-van. And later it became Chitwan. Another story says that jungle was teeming with deer and people called it Chitrivan and later it became Chitwan. Another interesting story says that in ancient times, the place was ruled by kings of Chitra vams so it became Chitwan.
