FJaisalmer Desert Festival (Jan-Feb.):
The Jaisalmer Desert festival is a major tourist haunt in Rajasthan. It is celebrated in the sand dunes where folk performers like musicians, ballad singers, snake charmers, and puppeteers all exhibit their best traditional skills. Exciting camel dances, camel acrobatics, competitions for the best decorated camel, camel races, and camel polo, tug-of-war between musclemen, a turban tying competition and a Mr. Desert contest are the main parts of the festival.
Elephant Festival, Jaipur (March-April):
This festival is organized to celebrate Holi where the visitors can watch several elephant sports and also play this festival of colors.
Gangaur Festival (March-April):
Both young girls and married women dressed up in their best garments and jewelry pray for their grooms of choice and husbands. It is celebrated for 18 days and the last day ends with arrival of Lord Shiva to escort his consort home. Music and dance are main highlights of the festival.
Marwar Festival, Jodhpur (October):
Music and dance of the Marwar region are the main parts of the festival which has its roots in the classical style of folk music tracing around the lifestyle of rulers of Rajasthan. Folk traditions of the Marwar region are reflected in this festival.
Camel Festival, Bikaner (January):
Bikaner, the desert city shimmers with vibrancy of music and dance during this camel festival. Some unusual folk performances, camel race are held in this festival.
Teej Festival, Jaipur (July-August):
This festival mainly a women festival is celebrated to mark the advent of the monsoon. Women dressed up nicely take part in cultural procession. Various bazaars are organized as merriment of the festival.
