History of Mandawa
Bhojraj Ji Kasubsub who belongs to a clan of Shekhawati Rajput formed Mandawa as a Thakur state in the 18th century. It is believed that Mandu Jat was the founder of the Mandawa village. The market of Mandawa has historical significance as traders from China and Middle East visited this town for trading purposes and settled here. Thakur Nawal Singh constructed a fort in 1755 to shelter this settlement of outside traders. Later a township developed here and many of the rich merchants created a traders colony here.
