Buddhist India and Nepal Tour

Destinations:  Delhi-Kathmandu-Lumbini-Kushinagar-Vaishali-Bodhgaya-Delhi

Day-01– Delhi

On arrival at Delhi Airport, you will be welcomed by our tour representative to your Buddhist India and Nepal tour. He will take you to the hotel and after all formalities you will be transferred to your room for relaxation. Spend the night at the hotel as planned under this itinerary for Buddhist India and Nepal.


Day 02 – Delhi-Kathmandu

In the morning, start your Delhi sightseeing. Visit the Qutab Minar, the India Gate, Red Fort, Birla Mandir, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk Bazaar and the other tour attractions of Delhi. In the afternoon, take your flight at the Delhi Airport to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be received by our tour representative and transferred to the previously booked hotel. Relax at the hotel for overnight.

Day 03 – Kathmandu

On the 3rd day of the India and Nepal Buddhism tour, you will explore the city of Kathmandu perched on Kathmandu valley with various temples and tourist sites. Visit Hanuman Dhoka (Durbar Square), a UNESCO world heritage site, which is a complex of palaces, temples, courtyards, etc. The stone inscription on the wall of the palace is inscribed in 15 languages. Visit also Kumari Ghar, Kashthamandap temple, Temples of Lord Shiva, Akash Bhairav temple, Balaju water garden, and various other Durbars and temples.

Day 04 – Kathmandu

Today you will visit the nearby tourist spots of Kathmandu city. Visit Budhanikantha, the temple complex where the colossal statue of the Hindu God Vishnu rests on the coils of a cosmic serpent. Go to the sites of Bouddhanath, an ancient stupa towering 36 meters high and the design is majestic. Also visit Pashupatinath, Bhakatpur, etc. Return back to the hotel and lay on the bed.

Day 05 – Kathmandu- Lumbini

Drive to Lumbini, a Buddhist pilgrimage site in Kapilavastu district of Nepal. It is the birth place of Lord Buddha. On reaching, take a hotel at Lumbini. In the afternoon, visit the pilgrimage centre, the temple of Mayadevi, the stone pillar erected by Emperor Asoka. It is the site of birth among the four pilgrimage centers of Buddhism -the sites of Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, first discourse, and death.

Day 06 – Lumbini-Kushinagar

Today guests will board the flight to Kushinagar, located on the Indian state Uttar Pradesh, famous for the Mahaparinirvana (death) of Lord Buddha. On reaching, take a hotel and begin your tour to the city. Visit the Nirvana Stupa (Buddha’s remains are stored here), Nirvana temple, Kushinagar Musuem, Rambha Stupa, Japanese Museum, Buddha Vihar, Chinese temple, Wat Thai temple, Meditation Park, Birla temple,etc.

Day 07 – Kushinagar-Bodhgaya enroute visiting Vaishali

The Buddhist tour to Nepal and India will be a spiritual exploration of Buddhism to you. While driving to Bodhgaya, enroute visit Vaishali, where the Buddha delivered his last sermon before death. Explore the Ashok Pillar - Lotus tank, Chaumukhi. Vaishali is a pilgrimage center of the Jain also as it is the birthplace of Mahavira. Start again drive to Bodhgaya, located in Indian state Bihar.

Day 08 --09 Bodhgaya

On the last two days of your Buddhist Spiritual journey to India and Nepal, stay in Bodhgaya and pay a visit to Rajgir, Nalanda. In Bodhgaya, Prince Siddhartha had attained enlightenment. Visit the Mahabodhi temple complex, where you will see the historic banyan tree where Buddha meditated and attained Nirvana. Maurya Emperor Asoka revived the religion’s history at this place due to his fascination for Buddhism.

On the next day start drive to Rajgir, an important Buddhist pilgrimage as Buddha spent 12 years here and the first Buddhist council was held at the Saptaparni cave here. Also drive to explore the UNESCO Cultural heritage site, Nalanda, a historical abode of the 5th century Nalanda University.

Day 10 – Bodhgaya- Gaya-train to Delhi

After journey to the four Buddhist pilgrimage centers, Lumbini, Kushinagar, Vaishali and Bodhgaya, your Buddhist India and Nepal tour itinerary will end today with spiritual exploration of the places.  You will come away with lasting impressions of spiritualism of Buddhism and its pilgrimage centers. Start drive from Bodhgaya to Gaya to catch your train to Delhi. On reaching Delhi, you will take your home flight at the Delhi international Airport.
