Our services start with your arrival at Leh airport. Meet & greet and transfer to the hotel. Welcome, drink on arrival. We recommend you to take a day’s rest to acclimatize to the rarefied air at the high altitude. Dinner will be at the hotel.
(Travelling to Leh requires your body to adjust or acclimatize to the high altitude terrain. Hence, we advise you to rest for the entire time, after reaching Leh, until the next day).
Today our guide takes you to exciting sightseeing of Shey, Thiksey and Hemis Monasteries.
Shey - Set on the eastern bank of the river Indus, the small village Shey is just about 15 km from Leh. The place is popular for the ancient palace and the monastery. The Shey Palace was the residence of the royal family built in the 17th century. Also, you can see the ruins of a fortress present above the palace. The Shey Monastery also has a three-storey image of Buddha Sakyamuni made of copper gilt.
Thiksey Monastery - Located on top of a hill, the monastery is an excellent example of Ladakhi architecture. This contains several stupas, statues, thangkas, wall paintings and a large pillar depicting Buddha's teachings.
Hemis Monastery - Built-in 1630, this is the biggest and most famous monastery in Ladakh. It is at a distance of 49 km from Leh and 30 km from Thiksey.
Post breakfast, check-out and head for Khardungla Pass, which lies north of Leh and is the gateway to Shyok and Nubra valleys. It is the world’s highest motorable pass situated at an elevation of 17,852 ft. To most visitors, going across the Khardungla pass gives the satisfaction of having triumphed over the un-conquerable. Proceed towards Nubra valley covering Deskit Monastery en-route. Check-in at Hotel/Camp, freshen up & later you can ride a Double Hump Bactrian Camel. Don’t forget to click this unique mammal, found in the cold desert. It was once used to carry the trade material on the silk route.
The morning after breakfast proceed for Leh, once again we will drive via Khardungla pass - the World’s Highest Motorable road. On arrival in Leh, visit Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace. Evening explores Leh bazaar for souvenir, by foot.
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Pangong Lake on the Indo China border. On your way, you will cross Changla Pass, the third highest motorable road in the world. Pangong Lake is a picturesque lake which is one of the major draws of the Leh-Ladakh valley. It is a popular location of several film shootings and known for its pristine waters surrounded by awe-inspiring mountains. Later, drive back to Leh and evening at leisure.
After breakfast check-out from the hotel and proceed for Tso Moriri, a lake at an altitude of 4,595 m (15,080 ft.) in the Ladakhi part of the Changthang Plateau. Upon arrival, check-in at the Tsomoriri Camp. Relax and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
After breakfast, we will proceed for Leh. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel and relax. Spend rest of the day at leisure.
