Small in terms of the area it covers but having a hallowed existence, Rameshwaram is a not-to-miss pilgrimage town located in Ramanathpuram District of Tamil Nadu. Separated from mainland India by the Pamban Channel, this tourist spot has been the centre of attraction for Hindu devotees across the world. A walk through the temples of Rameshwaram takes you to the days of the Ramayana and you would find enough evidences that will only reinforce your belief that there was once a man called Rama who walked on earth. Though the main attraction of this temple town is the great Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the Char Dhams in India, yet its relatively clean sea beaches, lesser crowded temples and sacred ponds give another reason to the avid travelers to add Rameshwaram to their bucket list.
You will be welcomed on your arrival at Madurai airport by our representative. Later, drive to Rameshwaram. Rameshwaram is one of the holiest places in India and is located on a beautiful island. After breakfast, proceed for the full day tour of Rameshwaram. Visit Ramanathaswamy temple. ‘Ramanathaswamy’ literally means ‘The Master of Rama’, which refers to Lord Shiva. The temple is believed to have been established and worshiped by Lord Rama, an avatar of the Lord Vishnu, to absolve the sins created in Sri Lanka. Next we proceed to see the Five faced Hanuman temple. One of the most famous temples in Rameswaram, the five faced Hanuman temple in Rameswaram is considered to be the place where Lord Hanuman revealed his five faces. These five faces included the faces of Lord Hanuman, Adivaraha, Narasimha, Hayagriva and Garuda. In the end, we visit Rama Setu. Ram Setu or Rama's Bridge is a causeway that is created across the sea connecting Pamban Island in Tamil Nadu to Mannar Island in Sri Lanka. Scientific studies have determined that the Palk Strait is a natural bridge formed by limestone shoals. Overnight stay in Rameshwaram.
