Nagarkot in Nepal
Nagarkot is the most scenic of spots in Bhaktapur district of Nepal. Situated 32 kilometres east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2,175 metres above sea level, Nagarkot is renowned for mountain watchers. The ecstatic panorama of snow-capped peaks of Mount Everest and the Himalayan ranges to the east of Nepal can be viewed from Nagarkot. Spectacular sunset and sunrise views of the Himalayas can be enjoyed. It also offers an excellent view of the Indrawati river valley and is described by visitors as a beautiful place that endures year round.

Visitors prefer visiting Nagarkot during springtime when surrounding valleys are layered with different coloured flowers against the serene backdrop of the snow-covered mountains. Nagarkot is ever popular for short treks and picnics. The unique and delightful treks from Nagarkot will be a perfect adventure without exerting much effort. A hike to Nagarkot's surrounding areas would be a good option. One can cross short distances on trekking trails, coming close to nature amidst verdant forests, flower-covered meadows and unusual rock formations.
Most people come for mountain viewing from a terrace of their residing lodge at dawn. However, for a better view, head to the viewing tower facing the south. From this tower, you can even see Mount Everest, which is not visible from the Nagarkot lodges. Nagarkot is perfect for sitting back and gazing at the snow-covered peaks that extend away from sight.
There are number of walks from Nagarkot, down to cheese factory, Sundarijal and Bhaktapur. Surrounded by terraced hillsides with scenic farmhouses, the hill station is an idyllic getaway, with only the sound of rustling leaves in the wind. Bird watching is a delightful experience in the forests, here and the adventurous can opt for short hiking. The most popular walk leads down from Nagarkot along a ridge to temple complexes of Changu Narayan, Sankhu and Vajra Jogini. Another preferred trail leads south from Nagarkot to Nala and Banepa on the highway to Tibet. Nagarkot hotels are available at reasonable rates for any accommodations, from five star to budget hotels.
