Get picked up from your hotel at 10 a.m., and meet your guide for the drive to Kala Ghoda (Black Horse), a distinctive crescent-shaped sub-precinct in Southern Mumbai. This area is a leading art district, housing a large number of art galleries, museums, heritage buildings, educational institutions, and other cultural spaces. Once you arrive, get introduced to the history of the various beautiful heritage structures that include vivid collections of Victorian Neo-Gothic, Indo Saracenic, Renaissance Revival, and Edwardian Neo-Classical architectural styles.
Your tour starts at the National Gallery of Modern Art, located opposite the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly the Prince of Wales Museum. The museum was opened in 1996, and since then, it has been hosting various art exhibitions of prominent artists, sculptors, and various civilizations. It also has collections of modern and contemporary art of India. Visit some of the premier art galleries to get a better understanding for Indian art.
