Rajasthan: Your Gateway into Royalty

While you have Rajasthan on the top of your list of destinations to visit in India, let us give you more reasons to visit Rajasthan, apart from all the reasons that you have listed. To get started, you will explore the capital city of Rajasthan which is Jaipur and is also colloquially known as the “pink city” because of the pink painted roofs of the houses in the city. The city has several well-known tourist attractions like the City Palace, Jal Mahal (a palace in the middle of an island), Hawa Mahal (an intricately latticed palace), Chand Pole amongst others. Once you are in Jaipur, you can move to other cities of Rajasthan, which includes Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Pushkar, Ranthambore and others. As you travel through Rajasthan, one of the first things you will notice apart from the regal palaces is the vibrant culture and warm hospitality of the locals who will instantly make you feel at home with their elaborate gestures.

When you plan your visit to Rajasthan keep in mind the climatic conditions since Rajasthan is mostly arid. You can also get your Rajasthan tour package customised accordingly so that you get to enjoy all aspects of Rajasthan, hassle-free. Further you can plan your visit to Rajasthan, close to the winter months between October to February since the rest of the months are either too hot or too humid.

Best Places to Visit in Rajasthan

Jaipur

The infamous pink city of India is also home to some of the most spectacular monuments of the Rajput-era. Your Rajasthan tour package must include this beautiful city where you will get to visit the centuries-old city palace which is still home to the erstwhile royal descendants of the Jaipur royal family. After exploring the city palace you can visit the imposing Hawa Mahal which is an architectural marvel in itself and is popular amongst tourists for the beautiful facades that constitute most of the structure. These two monuments are situated really near to each other with bustling markets nearby. Next you can explore the Amer Fort which is situated about 20 kms away from Jaipur and used to be the erstwhile capital of the Jaipur dynasty in the early 16th century. The fortress has another adjoining structure, called the Jaigarh Fort and it houses the biggest cannon ever made in India mounted at the top of the fortress. There is so much you can explore in Jaipur before moving onto the other popular destinations in Rajasthan.

Udaipur

Commonly called the “Venice of East” and the “City of Lakes”, Udaipur is surrounded by eight lakes which add to the city’s charm. The names of the lakes are Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar Lake, Swaroop Sagar Lake, Dhebar Lake, Rang Sagar Lake, Badi Lake and Doodh Talai Lake. Out of all these lakes the two most popular amongst tourists are the Lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar Lakes which surround the palatial Lake Palace, Shiv Niwas Palace and Jag Mandir Palace. The erstwhile royal family of Mewar (Udaipur) still lives at the city palace and takes care of the rest of the royal properties as heritage properties. If you are looking to explore Udaipur in the best manner possible then do inform our tour expert to include Udaipur in your Rajasthan tour package.

Jaisalmer

The glowy sun rays and the endless Thar desert give way to the ancient city of Jaisalmer which was once the hub for international business in India. Founded in the 11th century by the Bhati Rajputs of Rajasthan, the city of Jaisalmer has several forts, ornate havelis and beautiful bazaars mesmerizing enough for first-time visitors. If you are intrigued by the old-world charm of Jaisalmer make sure that you ask our tour expert to include the city tour in your Rajasthan tour package. The city has spectacular monuments like the Jaisalmer fort which is famously known as the living fort as several members of the city still reside inside the premises of the fort. Besides the fort, you can explore the Akal Wood Fossil Park where you will embark on a journey through time, with prehistoric fossils that offer a glimpse into the Earth's ancient past, while the natural splendour of Gadisar Lake presents an oasis of serenity amidst the arid surroundings.

The mystical allure of Jaisalmer is incomparable. The ethereal beauty of the landscape. The rhythmic beats of folk music and dance. The thrill of adventure amidst the golden sands of the desert. It has something for everybody. Plan your visit to Jaisalmer now.

Jodhpur

The city of Jodhpur was founded by the chief of the Rathore clan, Rao Jodha in the year 1459 and since then has acted as a flourishing centre of trade, commerce and craftsmanship for merchants, artisans and travellers from across the Indian subcontinent and beyond. Jodhpur boasts a rich and illustrious history that spans centuries. The city served as the capital of the erstwhile Marwar kingdom, which played a pivotal role in the history of Rajasthan.

Jodhpur is well known for its azure-hued buildings that dot the landscape of the old city and these labyrinthine streets are any photographer’s paradise. The city’s vibrancy creates a mesmerising tapestry of colours against the backdrop of the desert.

Atop a rocky hill lies the majestic Mehrangarh Fort overlooking the skyline of Jodhpur. Constructed in the 15th century by Rao Jodha the fort consists of impressive ramparts, intricately carved balconies, and palatial courtyards, offering beautiful panoramic views of the city below. Inside the fort premises lie a treasure trove of palaces, including Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, and Sheesh Mahal, each adorned with exquisite artwork and royal artefacts that speak eloquently of the saga of Jodhpur's regal past. Adding Jodhpur to your Rajasthan tour package would be very rewarding.

Pushkar

In Sanskrit the word Pushkar means “Blue Lotus Flower” as according to legends the city was once the abode of Lord Brahma. The city holds spiritual relevance and hosts one of Asia’s biggest animal fairs, which is colloquially called the “Pushkar Mela” by the locals. This fair attracts tourists from far and beyond with several attractions like camel races, cattle auctions, exotic animal showcases amongst others. Apart from the fair, the city has a Lord Brahma temple which is one-of-its-kind since he is a deity who isn’t worshipped across India as popularly as other deities are. Pushkar is located on the shore of Pushkar Lake, which has many ghats where pilgrims bathe. Pushkar is also significant for its Gurdwaras for Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh. One of the bathing ghats is called Gobind ghat built by the Sikhs in the memory of Guru Gobind Singh. If spirituality is on your bucket list while planning your trip to India, then make sure that you include Pushkar too in your Rajasthan tour package. You’ll get to experience supreme spirituality all the while exploring the best of Rajasthan’s tourist hotspots.
