Day 1: Arrival in Chennai
Upon arrival in Chennai, meet our representative who’ll assist you in smooth transfer to the hotel; check-in at the hotel and day free at leisure. Chennai: The city of Chennai has been a keeper of South Indian artistic, religious and culinary culture since centuries. Simply put, it is the heart and soul of South India. Day 2: Chennai Sightseeing
Upon your arrival at Chennai, our company representative will meet you and transfer you to the hotel in Chennai. After some relaxation, proceed with Chennai sightseeing tour with first visit to the St. George fort built by British East India company. Within the fort, an ancient Anglican Church - St. Mary’s Church and a museum exhibiting British antiques, artifacts, various paintings, coins and armoury etc. are a must-see here. Head to the St. Thomas Mount. It is a small hillock of 134 steps that leads the way to the a church dedicated to St. Thomas (one of the disciples of Lord Jesus. Visit the 16th century San Thome Cathedral. It is believed that the mortal remains of St. Thomas were buried here. This imposing church is inspired from Neo-Gothic style of architecture. Drive to the Kapaleeswar Temple - temple dedicated to Lord Shiva (God of Destruction) and Parthsarthy Temple - an 18th century Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna (Avatar of Lord Vishnu and son of Lord Shiva). Chennai sightseeing ends with excursion to the National Art Gallery that displays the famous Tanjore and Rajput paintings, handicrafts dating back to 11th-2 centuries, potraits of many British officials etc. Overnight stay at hotel in Chennai.

Day 3: Chennai-Kanchipuram-Mahabalipuram [60 km/approx. 2 hrs drive]
After breakfast, drive to Mahabalipuram. Enroute visit Kanchipuram: Popularly called the “City of Thousand Temples”, this city houses plenty of 7th-8th century temples built during the rule of Pallavas, Cholas and Vijayanagars (some of the longest-ruling dynasties of South India. This city is also famous for its fine silk weaving and clothing. Here, visit the Ekambareshwar Temple - a revered holy temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a 3,500 years old mango tree where Goddess Parvati (wife of Lord Shiva) used to meditate. Explore the major attraction of Kanchipuram including the Kailasanathar Temple - a megalith rock- cut temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the oldest temple of Kanchipuram. Also, visit the Kamakshi Temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati and the Vaikunthaperumal Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu (responsible for the upkeep of the world). Later, visit the local homes of silk weavers and witness how raw silk sarees adorned with beautiful golden embroidery (known as Zari) are made. In afternoon, continue drive to Mahabalipuram. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Mahabalipuram: It is a tranquil town renowned for its ancient temples, beaches and stunning rock-cut temples. The Mahabalipuram Group of Temples situated close to the shore of Bay of Bengal, are captivating in every sense. Overnight stay at hotel in Mahabalipuram.

Day 04: Mahabalipuram Sightseeing
After breakfast, your Mahabalipuram sightseeing tour begins with visit to the Panch Rathas (chariots) that consists of a group of monolithic monuments displaying animal figures carved out of solid rock. These are one of the finest examples of Dravidian (South-style) architecture. Also, capture glimpses of the magnificent Arjuna's Penance, a magnificent relief of mid-17th century. This relief reflects many stories and scenes of the natural and celestial worlds and is separated by a natural cleft. Head to the 7th century Shore temple whose architecture depicts the glory of the Pallavas dynasty. It comprises of three temples - one dedicated to Lord Vishnu and other dedicated to Lord Shiva. Day 05: Mahabalipuram-Pondicherry [110 km/approx. 2.5 hrs drive]
Today after breakfast, drive to Pondicherry. On reaching, you will-check-in at the hotel. Day free at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel in Pondicherry.

Day 06: Pondicherry Sightseeing
In the morning after breakfast, go for sightseeing of Pondicherry including visits to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram dedicated to a famous Yogi guru Sri Aurobindo, Auroville that boasts a wonderful monument of spiritual significance initiated by the mother of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. This monument is called Maitri Mandir wherein Maitri means “Mother”. Also, visit the Sri Ganesha Temple and Manakula Lord Vinayagar - popular Hindu temples in Pondicherry. Later, our company representative will escort you to Trichy. Trichy: Also called Tiruchirapalli, its most important landmark is the 3rd century Rock Fort temple perched on a massive hill rock. This city’s origin can be traced back to 3rd century and this makes it one of the oldest inhabited cities of Tamil Nadu. On arrival, check-in at the hotel in Trichy. Day 07: Pondicherry-Thanjavur (Tanjore) [170 km/approx. 4.5 hrs drive]
Today, head for a drive to Tanjore in the morning. En route, visit the quaint town of Chidambram Temple - one of the holiest Lord Shiva temples. This temple is dedicated to the dancing form of Lord Shiva, popularly known as “Nataraja”. An interesting fact about this temple is that it showcases the 108 transitions of classical Indian dance as per Natya Shastra (an ancient text on Hindu text on performing Arts). Continue drive to Tanjore. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. After some relexation, visit the renowned Brihadeeswarar Temple. It is more than 1000-years old Shiva temple and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A massive statue of Nandi (a sacred bull) weighing about 20 tons and carved out of a single rock is one of the major attractions here. Whats more, it is the first all granite temple in the world. Later, head to the Serforji Saraswathi Mahal Library and the Art Gallery - an inexhaustible treasure house of knowledge built during the rule of Nayak dynasty. Overnight in at hotel in Tanjore.

Day 08: Thanjavur-Trichy [60 km/approx. 1.5 hrs drive]
After breakfast, our company representative will escort you to Trichy. Trichy: Also called Tiruchirapalli, its most important landmark is the 3rd century Rock Fort Temple perched on a massive hill rock. This city’s origin can be traced back to 3rd century and this makes it one of the oldest inhabited cities of Tamil Nadu. On arrival, check-in at the hotel in Trichy. Day 09: Trichy Sightseeing
Partake an exursion to the Rock Fort Temple, also called Ucchi Pillayar koil. It is a beautiful 7th century where visitors have to climb upto 400 steps barefoot to reach this temple. But it’s totally worth the wait as it offers splendid views of River Cauvery and the city of Trichy. Also, visit the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha (a reclining form of Lord Vishnu). It is counted among the first of 108 “Divya Desams” meaning temple of Lord Vishnu. It is believed to have the tallest temple tower in South India. Later, head to the Jambukeshwar Temple that is considered be one of the major Shiva temples in South India. Day 10: Trichy-Madurai [140 km/approx. 2.5 hrs drive]
On this day, after breakfast, leave for Madurai by road. As you arrive, check-into the hotel. Madurai: It is a city, located on a bank of River Vargai, dotted with prominennt monuments, Meenakshi Temple and Tirumalai Nayak Palace being the most popular ones. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Day 11: Madurai Sightseeing
Today, explore this 2,500 years old city of Madurai. Visit the famous 1000-years old Meenakshi temple where Goddess Meenakshi, form of Goddess Parvati and Sundareshwarar (form of Lord Shiva and consort of Goddess Parvati) are worshipped here. This temple was among the top 30 nominees for the "New Seven Wonders of the World". Head to the Thirumalai Nayak Palace - a 17th century palace that displays a beautiful fusion of Dravadian and Rajput architecture style built by King Thirumalai Nayak (1623-1659) as his royal residence. Later, explore the Vandiyur Mariammam Teppakulam - a small water tank that has a 2000-years old temple, dedicated to Lord Vigneshwara, in the center. Overnight stay at hotel in Madurai.

Day 12: Madurai-Rameshwaram [180 km/approx. 4 hrs drive] - Madurai
After breakfast, our company representative will take you to Rameshwaram that is renowned for the beautifully-carved Ramanathaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple has great holy significance as it is said that Lord Ram and Sita themselves placed a Shivalingam here (an abstract form of Lord Shiva), as per the Hindu mythology. Also, visit the Tirumalai Nayak Palace - a 17th century palace that got its name from its creator Thirumalai Nayak (a ruler of the Nayak dynasty). This palace houses an archaeological museum with artifacts dating back to 102 A.D. The intricate paintings and sculptures are notable attractions here. It undoubtedly has one of the best architectures of its time. Later in the evening, our representative will drive you to Meenakshi Temple in Madurai. This temple is known for its thousand-pillar hall carved out of single rock that depicts a blend of engineering skills and artistic vision. Here, watch the evening Aarti (a daily holy ritual observed by devotees to seek divine blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati) within the temple. Overnight stay at hotel in Madurai.

Day 13: Madurai Departure
Today is the last day of the tour. After breakfast, our company representative transfers you to Madurai Airport for your flight to onward journey.
