Discover the tea gardens and the hills of Munnar on this 3-day tour from Kochi. Learn how the tea is grown and harvested during plantation tours and sampling. Visit Eravikulam National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see some of the 26 species of mammals who live there, including the Nilgiri tahr, an endangered mountain goat species.
Day 01 (Cochin - Munnar (130 km / 4 hours approx. - By Road)
You will be picked up from Cochin airport and/or your hotel. Drive to Munnar, a hill station town located on the Western Ghats in the Idukki district in Kerala. On arrival in Munnar check-in to your hotel. Take rest and be engulfed in a sea of a thousand shades of green. Overnight at the hotel in Munnar.
Day 02: Munnar
Post breakfast move out for sightseeing of the lush green hills of the town. Munnar is the commercial center of some of the world’s highest tea-growing estates. Ranging from adventures, to plantations trail and nature, Munnar has something special to offer to its guests. The tea gardens in Munnar are a must visit for tourists. Learn the art of tea making by watching the various steps of tea production in the tea factories right from plucking the leaves to sorting, drying and grinding of leaves. Take back home some freshly picked and manufactured tea as souvenirs form Munnar. Later head to the Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park ,the home of Nilgiri Tahr(a unique endangered goat species), found only in Munnar and in some isolated areas of the Nilgiri biosphere. Later, visit the Mattupeety lake, a man-made water body formed from a small hydro electricity dam, set amidst the steep hills and thick woods, offering great views and ample opportunities for photography enthusiasts. Mattupetty, where you will find the Mattupetty Reservoir and Dam. People of all ages, especially children will be intrigued by this visual treat and a visit with your entire family is a must to this beautiful location. This wide expanse of serene water, shining as it reflects the rays of the sun will take your breath away. Become a part of this glittering panorama when you venture on a boat on these waters. Boating here is a pleasant activity indeed.
Popular for its natural echo phenomenon, one can always see the area full of eager visitors throughout the year. At an altitude of about 600 ft, people love taking a walk in the lush greenery surrounding the place. It is an ideal picnic spot.
Kundala is a picturesque place, about 20 km from Munnar on the way to Top Station. It is at a height of 1700 meters above sea level. It is located at a distance of 20 kilometKundala dam, munnarers from Munnar. In Kundala, cherry blossoms appear twice in a year. The famous Neela Kurunji flowers which bloom once in twelve years, bloom in the hills and valleys around Kundala lake.
Day 03 Cochin (departure)
Post breakfast, check-out from your hotel and drive to Cochin. Keep your cameras handy for some great photographs witnessing the beautiful green pastures of Kerala. On arrival at Cochin, get dropped off at your hotel or transfer to the airport and take back pleasant and unforgettable memories of India.
