Itinerary

On arrival at the Colombo International Airport, get welcomed by MCI GeTS Holidays representative and transferred to your selected hotel in Negombo. Take a city tour of Negombo in the afternoon before returning to your hotel for the overnight stay.

After breakfast, visit Sigiriya to climb the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress and palace complex. The Sigiriya Fortress is a World Heritage Site built during 473-491 A.D. The unusual beauty rises 200 metres above the scrub jungle. Proceed to Polonnaruwa to your hotel for the overnight stay.

After breakfast, take a city tour of Polonnaruwa. The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage Site. The city, formerly the royal capital of several kingdoms, consists of a lot of temples and religious buildings. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure as you stay in Polonnaruwa for the night.

After breakfast, leave for Kandy. En route, visit the Dambulla rock cave temple (a World Heritage Site), which were built during the 1st century BC to 993 AD, contains statues and paintings. Also visit the spice gardens, famous for its rare display of herbs and spices. On arrival in Kandy, check-in to the hotel for the overnight stay in Kandy.

Enjoy your morning at leisure or opt for a half-day excursion after breakfast. Kandy is a scenic city set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. In the afternoon, take a city tour of Kandy, and visit the sacred Buddhist sites including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thereafter, proceed with Upper Lake Drive, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum, Lapidary and the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya on the banks of Sri Lanka’s longest river and see its magnificent Orchid House and the grove of splendid trees all planted by eminent figures. Conclude the tour with a cultural dance performance. Head back to your hotel in Kandy for the overnight stay.

After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, a scenic city based in the tea country hills of Sri Lanka. Visit a tea plantation and factory and enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you proceed to your hotel of choice for the overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Take a packed breakfast with you as you proceed to Horton Plains for a 4-hour trek. Horton Plains, also known as the World’s End, is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka where one can enjoy amazing panoramic views.
After your trek, take the train to Nanu Oya where your vehicle will meet you off the train. Alternatively, drive to Ella after you complete your trek; Ella is a small laid-back town surrounded by the beautiful greens of tea gardens. Check-in to your hotel in Ella for the overnight stay.

After breakfast, leave for Tissamaharama and check-in to the hotel. Take an afternoon safari of Yala National Park or Bundala National Park. The former is the most visited national park in the country with the highest density of leopards on the planet. The latter, a UNESCO biosphere reserve, is an important base for migratory waterbirds; around 197 species of birds harbor here, the great flamingo being the highlight. Return to your hotel in Tissamaharama for the night.

After breakfast, take a drive around Tissamaharama (the town is dotted with ancient buildings dating to as early as the 3rd century B.C.) and Kataragama (an important holy pilgrimage town to Buddhist, Hindu, Muslims and indigenous Veda people of Sri Lanka) to visit the places of interest before proceeding to Colombo. Continue drive to Colombo and take a brief tour of the city, which is the capital and ocean city of Sri Lanka. Thereafter, proceed to your hotel of choice in Colombo for the night.

Our tour ends this morning after breakfast and your transfer will be provided to the airport in time for your departure flight.
