Itinerary

Kathmandu has three Durbar squares and one of them is Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is undoubtedly the most spectacular legacy of Kathmandu’s traditional architecture and is counted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. This square’s stunning architecture is inspired from Newari style of architecture and is constructed in the shape of a multi-tiered Pagoda. It consists of many old palaces, ancient temples and pavilions that offer a mystical feeling

Patan, only 15 minutes drive from Kathmandu. It is also known as ‘Lalitpur’ meaning City of Beauty. Even after a massive earthquake in 2015, tourists continue to visit this city for the spectacular Durbar Square and also buy traditional items as souvenirs. The Patan Durbar Square hosts popular temples, pagoda, a museum and much more. One of the major attractions of this square is the Krishna Mandir that represents the sheer influence of Indian architecture. This three-tiered temple is the earliest stone temple in Nepal consisting of stone-crafted images of Lord Krishna (eighth reincarnation of Lord Vishnu), which is the main area of worship. On the second level, you will sight an image of Lord Shiva (destroyer or transformer among the Great Trinity of God Brahma (creator) and God Vishnu (preserver). It is said that the third level used to have a statue of Avalokitesvara (Lord of compassion).

Swayambhunath, located on a hillock 3 km west of Kathmandu. It is an important holy site of Buddhists in Nepal dating back to 5th century A.D. It is believed that this Stupa evolved when the valley was born out of a lake 2,000 years ago. This enigmatic Stupa is a treat to eyes as it is adorned with vibrant prayer flags, a pair of big eyes on all its sides symbolic of “God's all-seeing” perspective and it hosts the largest image of the Sakyamuni Buddha in Nepal sits on a pedestal on its western boundary. This glory of the site itself has stood as a hallmark of faith and harmony for centuries.
